Welcome to the website of the Massachusetts Higher Education Assistance Corporation, doing business as American Student Assistance^® (ASA). The terms and conditions for use of this site are written below. Please read them carefully. By using this site, you acknowledge that you have both read and accept these terms. ASA^® retains the right, in its sole discretion, to modify these Terms of Use without notice and which modifications shall be effective upon posting. You should review these terms periodically. Use of Site

The content and of this site has been compiled from a variety of sources and is subject to change at any time and without notice. Calculators on this site and on linked sites are designed to provide only estimates of amounts that a borrower might actually pay. Do not rely on these calculations as actual payments may vary based on the interest rates, calculation processes and any assumptions on which your loan is granted.

Although the information accessed via this site is as accurate as possible, there may be some data, information or transactions which have yet to be processed or posted. Please contact ASA before acting in reliance on this site.

Use of this site and the submission of any forms through this site do not qualify you for financial aid. Your individual financial situation, federal regulations and the opinion of external agencies (for example, schools, lenders, guarantee agencies, the Department of Education) will determine your eligibility for financial aid. If you wish to apply for financial aid, you must first contact the financial aid office at your school or your lender. Where forms are available on this site for borrowers of existing loans (for example, deferment or forbearance forms) these forms are to be printed by you and mailed either to your servicer or lender. Check with our Call Center at 800.999.9080 for mailing instructions.

ASA may use any material or information posted by you to this site for any purpose. You certify that all information you submit to ASA, whether through this site or otherwise, is true, correct and complete. ASA may create, distribute or use activity reports or similar abstracts of material provided by users of this site. Transmissions to this site are not confidential and may be used, read or intercepted by others. You agree not to post any information on this site that infringes the intellectual property rights of others and not to use any software or device to interfere with the operations of or monitor the use of this site.

Applicable Law & Jurisdiction

Except where federal law governs, this site will be governed under the substantive laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its provisions on conflicts of laws. You agree to submit to the jurisdiction and venue of the courts of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Suffolk County and to bring any claim related to the use of this site within one (1) year after such claim arose, regardless of any law to the contrary.

Password Access and Use of This Site

If you have password access to functionality of this site, you are responsible for the security of your password. If you have any reason to believe that your password is compromised (for example, the departure of an employee who knows a password) contact ASA for a new password immediately at webmaster@asa.org or at 800.999.9080. Once a password has been issued to a person or institution, that entity is fully responsible for and agrees to indemnify ASA for any liability from any unauthorized use unless it has notified ASA to cancel the password. All users of this site certify that they are the party who has been granted permission to access the site and information therein.

ASA may terminate your password, account, use of this site, or use of any services accessible via this site (such as ASA Direct) or change its services and loan programs in our sole discretion and for any reason.

Confidentiality of Information

You may obtain direct access via ASA Direct^® to certain confidential information of ASA and its partners, including but not limited to non-public personal information of borrowers. You must hold such information in strict confidence.

Confidentiality and Internet Transmissions

Although this site conforms to industry security standards, no one can certify that Internet transactions cannot be intercepted or interfered with. Please do not e-mail ASA with information about your account; e-mail is not a secure medium. The transmission of data or information (including communications by e-mail) over the Internet or other publicly accessible networks is not secure, and is subject to possible loss, interception or alteration while in transit.
